20 years after the footage was found that made up The Blair Witch Project, Heather’s much younger brother, James, travels to Burkittsvile, Maryland in search of the truth about what happened to her. He is joined by friends Ashley, Peter & Lisa, who has made James’s search the subject of her school documentary project. The group meets up with a couple in Burkittsville through the internet who claim to have found a tape containing footage shot by someone who appears to be Heather. The couple, Lane & Talia, insist on joining the group on their trip into the woods in exchange for leading them to the spot where the videotape was found.
