54 | ABCs of Death 2.5

The ABC's of Death series brings us another collection of letter-themed horror shorts. These shorts, however, are all created around the letter "M." If you're a fan of the ABC's of Death movies or even just a fan of horror shorts or anthologies, chances are good you will dig this collection.

In this episode we also touch on the Netflix hit, Stranger Things, as well as the totally-not-horror-related podcast, My Dad Wrote A Porno.

Directors: 31 different directing credits

Writers: 13 different writing credits

Synopsis: For those of you who have seen ABCs of Death 2, you may be aware that the submission for letter "M" was the winner of a contest. The contest was open to indie horror filmmakers and asked them to put together a 3-minute short for the letter "M." The chosen winner would be included in the final cut of ABCs of Death 2. However, since there were so many solid entries, they decided to put out a collection of some of the best. If you're a fan of the ABCs of Death movies or just a fan of horror shorts or anthologies, chances are good you will dig this collection. It's currently available for rental ($2.99) or purchase ($5.99) on Vimeo. The Bloodlust collectively agrees that it is worth the $2.99, at the very least. I mean, just give up your weekly fancy coffee or something. If you do check it out, then listen in as we discuss ABCs of Death 2.5.

See? Alice is super foxy. She's also the funniest of the 3.

During our pleasant banter -- something you get with every episode of The Bloodlust -- we also discuss the overnight Netflix hit, Stranger Things, as well as the totally not-horror-related podcast, My Dad Wrote A Porno (and how some of us may or may not have a crush on Alice...). Seriously, if you enjoy comedy, poorly-written erotic novellas, and/or British accents, do yourself a favor and give 'er a listen.

Next on the docket, Fede Alvarez's tense new thriller, Don't Breathe. Released in US theaters on 8/26/2016, this film was definitely one of those that benefits from being seen in theaters. So if you haven't seen it, yet, you still have plenty of time to go check this out before our next episode.

Bosom friend of The Bloodlust, Andrew Shearer, joins us to discuss Darling. You can listen to Eddie's earlier interview with Andrew here.

Next we'll be tackling the lastest installment of the very much "hit or miss" ABC's of Death series. Mind you, this installment is not ABC's of Death 3. Instead, this is a collection of shorts submitted for a contest that was held for the letter "M" in ABC's of Death 2. Since there were so many solid entries, they decided to put out a collection of some of the best ones. If you're a fan of the ABC's of Death movies or just a fan of horror shorts or anthologies, chances are good you will dig this collection. 52 | Nina Forever

Still upset at the tragic death of his girlfriend, Nina, Rob finds new love with his co-worker, Holly. As things with Holly start to heat up and he starts to move past his grief, dearly departed Nina decides to come back (at the most inopportune of times, mind you) to let him know that she's not quite ready for him to move on.

Did you miss us? Sorry about skipping a week, folks. We recorded several episodes - including this one - quite a while ago, in anticipation of being far too busy actually getting to hang out with each other for once. Yay!!!

We're back to our regular recording schedule (& our boring old lives) now, so we promise no more delays, & no more discussions about very old news. Like how we talk about The Woods at the beginning of this episode as if we hadn't already found out it's a new Blair Witch movie. Ugh. Surry.

Directors: Ben & Chris Blaine

Writers: Ben & Chris Blaine

Stars: Abigail Hardingham, Cian Barry, Mandeep Dhillon

Synopsis: A young man, still upset at the tragic death of his girlfriend, Nina, finds new love with his co-worker, Holly. As things start to get serious with Holly and he starts to move past his grief, Nina decides to come back during the couples' sexy times to let him know that she's not quite ready for him to move on.

We'll be reviewing the 2016 indie film, Darling, for our next episode. For all you lovers of horror films that fall outside of the Conjuring/Insidious/et al realm, chances are you've checked out The Woman and/or Jugface (or you've at least thought about it). Therefore, you will recognize Darling's leading lady, Lauren Ashley Carter. She is becoming a familiar face in indie horror flicks and tbh, we couldn't be more pleased about that. Darling is currently streaming on Netflix so give it a watch and then join us for our review!

Director: James Wan

Writer: Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes, James Wan and David Leslie Johnson

Stars: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Madison Wolfe

Synopsis: Lorraine and Ed Warren reluctantly take a case in England, where a single mother and her four children are being threatened and harassed by an evil spirit within the house.

The next time you hear from us, we'll be reviewing the 2016 indie film, Nina Forever. This is maybe not the best movie to watch with a group of people as there are a few sexy scenes (or maybe I'm the only weirdo who doesn't enjoy watching sex scenes w/a group of peeps). It's currently available on iTunes and Amazon.
